The Sunday Wildflower Bouquet #3
A weekly recap: life, writing, reading, new finds, weekly quote, musings.
Thank you for reading this week’s The Sunday Wildflower Bouquet. A bouquet of wildflowers is a collection of flowers gathered from a wild, untamed place—much like the environment here at Substack.

“If you will stay close to nature, to its simplicity, to the small things hardly noticeable, those things can unexpectedly become great and immeasurable.”

🌟 Exciting News! My post The Vermont Notebook: Part 1 is featured in
I can’t count how many times this week I saw a restack of
’s post: Writer Ethics & Literary Citizenship: An FAQ. Jeannine’s subscribers wrote many beautiful comments expressing how much they had learned from her teachings. When I read the following in her post, it spoke to me. I became an annual paid subscriber (my only one) and started the Essay in 12 Steps course. This first week is on noticing. With a little angst for stopping my paid subscriptions to them, I’ve dropped the other writing course and explorative community to focus my energy on Jeannine’s Writing in the Dark Curriculum and teachings—it deeply resonates with me.“When I say writing is a metaphor for life and vice versa, I mean that being a writer is a way of living fueled by paying very close attention to the world, being ravenously curious, sustaining genuine playfulness (which is so very hard for so many people!) and surprise. Being a writer is a way of seeking truth through a process of unearthing, discovering, and openness to the unknown rather than reciting what we already think we know. Additionally, being a writer means striving to do all this through the lens of bodily experience, fueled by desire and an intention to embrace (or at least endure) uncertainty—which makes us vulnerable.
These are the core concepts behind what it means to write in the dark.”
My Recent Writings
“I love how nature acts as a mirror to our experience, but does so in a very gentle way. When you tune in and allow your attention to wander, it always delivers something beautiful back to you.”

Interesting Newsletters I’ve Read This Week
There is never a shortage of interesting newsletters to read on Substack. Here are a few I enjoyed this week, and I hope you will as well. I thought about writing short descriptions for each but decided to leave it up to your exploration—to discover something you might not ordinarily read. And I’m far behind on reading my inbox 🙄
